John
Bonny is living in Los Angeles but is originally from Chicago where he
earned his BA in theater along with a respect for acting at Illinois
State University. In Chicago, he worked as a professional actor and
played Satan in Nicole Hollander’s original musical “Sylvia’s Real Good
Advice”, based on the national comic strip and directed by David Bell.
After that he studied at Chicago’s famed Second City. He is a founding
member of GayCo Productions, Second City’s first gay and lesbian
sketch/improv group, where he has worked with such directors and
writers: Jeff Richmond, Tina Fey, and Jim Zulevic. For the last nine
years he has written, performed and collaborated with GayCo creating
over 10 shows which have toured around the country to Miami,
Provincetown, New York and Amsterdam Gay Games. GayCo has received After Dark Awards for several of it’s productions. In the summer of 2005 GayCo recently received an Outstanding Ensemble Award at the NYC International Fringe Festival for its satirical production of “Weddings of Mass Destruction”. Last summer GayCo premiered at OUTFEST with their homolarious short film “Baby Time Share”. He is executive producer of “Three Dollar Bill Productions” and is currently in production for their next comedy short film “Summer Sex”. Film/TV credits include: Early Edition, The Untouchables, and the totally improvised independent film Crushed. He has appeared in numerous commercials and can be seen playing a flamboyantly gay travel editor for Orbitz, and he recently worked on a Secret deodorant spot with “Friends with Money” director Nicole Holofcener. |
